Welcome

From Website Management:
The idea behind the development of this website was to create a venue to document the on-going development of our family members, now approaching 280 in number, with photos, bios, and anecdotes from the past, present and, hopefully, into the future. The reunion committee hopes this living document will be a great family resource in the months and years following the 2023 reunion.

While we are not yet there, thanks to the efforts of many of you scouring through the revered “Aunt Margaret Albums” and those of your own families, there is enough here to share with you what the vision of the site and its potential can be. We are well into the digital age, so the quality and preservation of photographic imagery, not to mention the ability to share it, is significantly better than it was only five or ten years ago.

This site, by definition, is for all of us, so your input and suggestions for improvement will always be welcome. So, even though the site is in what we consider BETA mode (as in BETA THAN NOTHING), we are confident you will enjoy the ride.

What a better way to kickoff the introduction of our family website than with the 2023 Murphy Reunion! Is there anything more important than family? Even though some of us may have never met, and we may not all share the same interests, there is a common link that binds us — we are all Murphys, by blood or by love — usually both!

Explore the pages by clicking on the tabs above – Our History, 2023 Murphy Reunion, and our blog – the Murphy Chronicles! Have a beloved, or even better, a funny story from you childhood? Email it to your family rep – Mick Anderson; Karen, Don, or Ray Koenig; or Barb Newton. We will add your story to the blog. In the near future, users will be able to type their stories directly into the blog.

We’d like to offer special thanks to our cousin Dindy Murphy, of the Murphy Florida clan for her efforts in making some of the most sophisticated aspects of this website a reality. And to our cousin Kelly Klemmer, thanks for taking over the Klemmer pages to make them worthy of representing our beloved Aunt Margaret.

Ireland whispers,

“You can never forget me; I am in your blood. For thousands of years your ancestors lived, worshipped, struggled, created here. You can never forget this. Nor can you ever cease being Irish. Until your dying day you will be obsessed by spirit, tempted to melancholy, shamelessly addicted to the life of words. I could not keep you. I surrendered your ancestors to another country. But I have never surrendered my hold on your souls. I have never exempted you from the burden and the glory of being Irish.”

All of us on the 2023 committee are part of the oldest generation of the Murphy Clan (in case that isn’t evident by our photos! It will be up to the younger generations of the clan to choose who will update this site for the next reunion.

All of us on the committee are part of the oldest generation of the Murphy Clan. It will be up to the younger generations of the clan to choose who will update this site for the next reunion. The website will be active until mid-February, 2024, at which time there is a yearly fee due for WordPress to continue its hosting service. The fee is less than $100.00 per year. Or perhaps one of our young members knows of a cheaper, or even free, way to continue the site.

If a family, committee, or group of you wish to sponsor the website for the remainder of 2024, Barb Newton can help you get that arranged. We hope the site will continue to keep this wonderful, wacky family informed about its events, marriage, births, and any other important information or minutia you’d like to share. Also contact your family Rep if you are interested in being part of the 2028 Reunion Committee.

The document titled Family Tree will be updated and linked the the
Our History page.

There will be another reunion in 2026!
